The Kitchner Lotus 47GT

This automobile started out as a 47 (reputedly one of the prototypes) SN P5-P15-R1.  Sometime in the early 70's it was purchased by Tony Kitchner Race Developments, and underwent extensive modifications, including a Lotus 40 engine and drive train, TR-4 hubs, and a (!) sunroof (gone).  With a 289 K Code Ford pumping out 280 BHP. it's performance as reported in Motoring News was "breathtaking".   At some point, the car sold to a buyer in here in the States who crashed it. When I bought it in 1972, it was represented as the 47GT prototype driven by John Miles, but  I haven't been able to verify that.
The engine is rebuilt and now has Weber 48 IDA carbs, 351 heads, and electronic ignition.  Ford's 1970 dyno data on this configuration indicate 395 BHP @ 6500 RPM.  Because of a low final drive ratio and 13" tires, top speed isn't going to be much over 140 MPH.  Break and clutch lines are currently being replaced and final bodywork is next. With luck, this summer will see the roll out.  But then I thought that last year too.  And '03.  And '05.  And..............
That pickup in the background is my wife's.  Honest.
