Hill Country Operation Principles

This is the underlying principle of the Hill Country Chapter. We run as free as possible...as simple as allowable...never quite knowing for sure of all the insignificant details.
This means that:
- we sometimes will not have a "destination", but we sure will have a ride.
- we live for U-turns, as they are part of the adventure.
- we just don't sweat the small stuff.
- we enjoy our friendships, and sharing the road.
- we are is search of uncomplicated fun!

Some Questions you may have

What if I have an idea for a "Chapter" ride?

Get a route, and check with the Officers for an open date.
If your riding skills are known to us, you are welcome to lead the ride. We will give you a short set guidelines to review in advance of the ride, so that we can maintain a level of order and safety. The rest is up to you.
If you don't want to lead, we can get someone who will do the job.
Once a date is set, feel free to promote it in the Forum(s) or other places.
The 1st Officer will make sure that an e-mail goes out to the entire chapter to inform all members of the ride plan.
Members are encouraged to step up and plan a ride! Share the fun :>)

What if I want to put together a last minute "unofficial" ride?

Just use the Forum(s), e-mail or other methods to get the word out. Hopefully the ride does not conflict with an already planned "Chapter" ride.
That's what the Club is for. To ride even when there may not be a "ride".
If 2 or 20 get together, then the function of the Club is a success.

What if I don't have access to the internet, except at work or a friend?

You are always welcome, but our high paying jobs ($0.00) don't provide for us to do mailings. You will need to be able to get access via a friend, library or school.

What is the structure of SCRC? Local to International?

As the SCRC has grown it became necessary to put in writing some guidelines and procedures.
These cover topics from the structure of chapters, to events, to placement of the optional patch for a uniform appearance.
For convenience, you can get your Chapter Name patch from your Chapter First Officer if you want to have one. As always, it's optional.

Is there a ''code of conduct' ?

As a free club, we openly accept all sorts or riders and personalities. National has a disclaimer on the signup page that you filled out and typed "agree". Part of it touches on that:

..operating with the sole purpose of promoting good, clean, and safe riding activities. Each member 
participates in activities solely by choice and participation itself relinquishes any
responsibility of the SCRC as an organization for any and all liabilities resulting in 
participation in any club related event or activity.  All activities and events must comply 
with any and all state or local laws and ordinances.

Well, we are not the police, so if your tags are expired, we may remind you, but that's your problem, not ours. We will however stick to the real intent of this statement.
That is:

Keep it clean	= conduct yourself as a human being...some places require conduct that would not upset grandma. Other places, are almost 'anything goes'. Know the difference. There's a time and place for everything.
keep it safe	= Know the Riding Rules , no hot-dogging, no changing lanes before it's secured, no DWI or any other stunts
keep it legal	= No criminal activity is tolerated.

The last section of the constitution addresses the topic of social beverages. We reserve the right to not allow participation in the current riding part of an event if one is deemed to be no longer safe for group riding. Please don't put us in that position. Use your better judgement.
What you do when not on a SCRC ride, or not wearing the SCRC patch, for the most part, is none of our concern. We do however, take "Don't give the club a bad name" quite serious, but not to extreme.
