Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, below is an excerpt from a Christian unity prayer. Please give it prayerful consideration and, if the Spirit leads, please pray this yourself and let us agree together in it, in prayer before the Lord.

CHRISTIAN UNITY PRAYER, PART 3 OF 25: “We pray together in Jesus, God’s Name in His Love for All His Children, of All Christian Denominations and Groups”

We believe together and pray together in the name of Jesus, who said, “…The Lord our God is one Lord” (Mark 12:29) and who said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30); who said, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18); and who said “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).

Father, our spirits come together in our hearts in the spirit and truth of your love for all Christians, of all Christian denominations and groups, giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We pray, Father, “…Hallowed be thy name” (Matthew 6:9), for Jesus showed us your hallowed name in Himself, in your love for all your children, and Jesus said, “…I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them” (John 17:26) and again, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…” (John 14:9). We unite to hallow, and to pray in, the glorious name of Jesus, whose name is the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved; whose name is above every name that is named, not only in this world but that which is to come; Jesus, whose name is exalted by God in order that every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; whose name, Jesus, was at one time the name of one man in whose flesh dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and is now the name in the flesh of all of us, the body of Christ. As one together in Jesus, we open our hearts and receive your Spirit in us, and we know the Bible says “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God” (1 John 4:2).

Love in Jesus to All!

We cordially invite any interested Christian to read and pray the rest of this prayer, or just to come and talk with Christians of all backgrounds, on a Christian unity email discussion mailing list. We’d love to hear from you about any Christian topic at all, and especially to discuss any topic related to unity of all Christians, of all Christian denominations and groups. (Btw, non-Christian visitors are welcome too!) You can find info on the email discussion mailing list, which is called the “Christian Unity Conference” (CUC), or info about a combined effort on a larger prayer for Christian unity, part of which is shown above, called the “Christian Unity Prayer Project” (CUPP), by going to the following URL:
