Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, below is an excerpt from a Christian unity prayer. Please give it prayerful consideration and, if the Spirit leads, please pray this yourself and let us agree together in it, in prayer before the Lord.

CHRISTIAN UNITY PRAYER, PART 5 OF 25: “We Pray for Unity in the Eternal Flesh of the Body of Christ”

Though our bodies are in this world, our spirits unite to reside together in the eternal flesh of the body of Christ. His flesh is to do the will of God, which we help to accomplish when we obey His new commandment and seek with our brothers to unite in love in the body that bears His name. When we do God’s will we are in the flesh of Jesus, and the flesh of Jesus is in us when we take God’s will into our hearts and make it our own, for Jesus said, “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed” (John 6:55) and He said, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” (John 4:34) and again Jesus said, “…This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent” (John 6:29).

We seek to do our part in your work in us, Father, uniting in our belief on Jesus, for He speaks to us in the Bible and His words convince us. We believe that Jesus is the Word who was made flesh and who lives in the words of the Bible through the testimony of the apostles and the foreknowledge of the prophets. The Holy Spirit gave them the words to write, and when we read the Bible with understanding, we hear the Spirit of God speak the truth in our hearts. We hear Jesus speak the truth in the word, and the truth makes us free.

While our souls remain bound in this flesh of our bodies, which is the flesh that returns to dust, our spirits are already released through the words of the Bible to know the life eternal together in Jesus, in the body of Christ. Our spirits all hold fast in our hearts to His words by which He speaks His will, and His words are the spirit and life of our souls, for Jesus said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

Love in Jesus to All!

We cordially invite any interested Christian to read and pray the rest of this prayer, or just to come and talk with Christians of all backgrounds, on a Christian unity email discussion mailing list. We’d love to hear from you about any Christian topic at all, and especially to discuss any topic related to unity of all Christians, of all Christian denominations and groups. (Btw, non-Christian visitors are welcome too!) You can find info on the email discussion mailing list, which is called the “Christian Unity Conference” (CUC), or info about a combined effort on a larger prayer for Christian unity, part of which is shown above, called the “Christian Unity Prayer Project” (CUPP), by going to the following URL:
