Soldier's Lament
They're taking all the fun from war;
We're not allowed to kill no more.
Pillage and plunder are also taboo --
They forgot that "Good Guys" need fun too.
Whats the cause of this prevention?
Life Magazine and the Geneva Convention.
But future soldiers don't lose heart;
They've left us one important part.
The hunt, the chase, the sport, the thrill...
Thank God we're still allowed to kill.
U. R. Heller circa 1969
Note:
If I seemed cynical, a bit of explanation. Those of us from that era remember the never-ending stream of invective from the media concerning the Viet Nam War. The liberals who got us into the war didn't have the will to win it and we, the chosen few, were left holding the bag.
