Troop 1113 April Newsletter
The Past:
March brought many great opportunities for the troop. The district camporee was held at the JP White campsite located at Camp Strake. Those that were present had an excellent time. A special thanks to Michael Carr for sharing his cooking skills. There was an excellent turnout for ‘Donut Sunday’. A very special congratulations to Brenda Bohn and Rodger Meredith for receiving the Silver Beaver Award!! Outstanding!!!
The Present:
April brings our family campout to Guadalupe River State Park on April 5th thru the 7th. Remember spaces are limited, so sign up early. Don’t forget the committee meeting held Sunday @ 4. Brian Decker will be carrying out his Eagle project on the 13th and 14th. Contact Brian for further details. We will also be participating in Notre Dame’s Bazaar on Sunday the 21st (11 – 7). That will be followed up by the district food drive on Saturday the 27th.
The Future:
May will bring OA Ordeals and camp services on May 3rd and 4th @ El Rancho Cima and Mat 10th & 11th @ Camp Strake. Also the outing to Schlitterbahn on the 24th – 26th. There are still some slots open for summer camp at Iron Wheel Mesa (June 16th thru the 22nd). The payment schedule for Emerald Bay (June 9th thru the 15th) is in progress. I strongly suggest you do not fall behind on those payments. See Bob Osborne for further details.
A Note From The Committee Chairperson:
I have the following training information:
Committee Chairperson and Committee Member – March 23rd @ Notre Dame 7p – 10p
Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmaster - April 27th @ Notre Dame 1p – 6p
Outdoor Leader Skills – May 18th and 19th **
SM Minutes:
The greatest waste of our natural resources is the number of people who never achieve their potential. Get out of that slow lane. Shift into that fast lane. If you think you can't, you won't. If you think you can, there's a good chance you will. Even making the effort will make you feel like a new person. Reputations are made by searching for the things that can't be done and doing them. Aim low boring. Aim high soaring.
Yours in Scouting
