TROOP 1113 APRIL 2007

The past: What a busy month march was. Troop 1113 participated in the Merit Badge Fair on the 3rd. We went to Hondo for the Aviation Merit Badge event on the 16th, 17th and 18th. Then we visited Camp Strake for the Tatanka District Camporee on the 23rd, 24th and 25th. Finally there was an Eagle Scout project on Saturday the 31st. It was rain postponed.

The present: April looks to be as busy as March was. We are trying to hold a Junior Leader Training Campout for our newly elected Troop leaders on the 13th, 14th and 15th. This event will come together very quickly. On the 21st Tim Bohn will hold his rain delayed Eagle Scout project at Notre Dame Church 08:00. We will be removing undesirable tree species from the nature area of Boone Road Park. The Scout Fair will be on the 28th. We will go to Reliant Stadium and demonstrate how to cook Dutch oven cobblers to the public. This event usually has 90,000 or more people attending during the day, don’t miss out on this one.

The future: May is the end of school and the beginning of summer. Troop 1113 once again is full of activities for you scouts. OA members will be able to participate in the service weekend/ordeal on either the 5th and 6th or the following weekend the 12th and 13th. Saturday the 19th is the District Food Drive this is a very important event for our community and an opportunity to earn service hours toward your advancement. The 22nd is our Doughnut Sunday service with a new twist. The Troop will sponsor a car wash during the services for the Church members. The funds raised will go into your scout accounts to help pay for your scouting activities. Finally on the 26th we have planned a trip to visit Schilitterbahn Water Park.

Scoutmaster minute: Our Troop has grown recently and this is a good thing. With this growth will bring new ideas, fresh viewpoints and new life into our program. The fourth Scout law is ‘a scout is Friendly.’ Welcome to all the new scouts and their families.
