TROOP 1113 August 2006

The Past: Well boys summer is over. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and learned how not to ruin a great vacation by going to summer school. Summer camp at Horseshoe Bend was great. Lots of advancement, fun and good memories made the month of June go by real fast. Mr. Carr entertained us with high flying rockets while teaching the Space Exploration merit badge in July. Our Troop Patrol Leaders Council sat down and planned out the years upcoming adventures in June. Look forward to an exciting year in Scouting.

The Present: August is half over as I write this newsletter. Most of you have started back to school and are scratching your heads and wondering what the teacher is talking about. "We never learned this last year!" Next week the 22nd will be our annual Bowling night at Fun-Plex bowling center. Bring $1.45 to pay for your shoes; the troop will pay for all lines bowled by troop members. We will meet at 7:00pm. The last week of this month will be troop elections and our return to class A uniforms. Opps my bad, new BSA policy is that we (Boy Scouts) have Official Uniforms (old class A’s) and field uniforms (old class B’s). Also the wearing of camouflaged clothing on Scout property is no longer allowed.

The Future: We have a great year planned for the Troop On the 12th we will have our fall Court of Honor with a pot luck supper. There are lots of activities planned for the year and many fund raising activities to help pay for them. All the plans need are you and your fellow scouts.

Scoutmaster Minute: Life is a constant change. Each millisecond a small change occurs in our bodies and the bodies of all living things. Like pennies enough of these mille changes add up to some big change. Our Scout Troop is a living entity with pulse and breathes of its own. Our Troop is a composition of all people who have joined scouting. You, me the committee members and so on. A change in one person can be felt by the entire troop. My life is about to change in my job. I have accepted a job close to my house, working the night shift at a hospital. I will not be able to attend Tuesday night troop meetings. Please inform your parents of this news and have them look for a letter from our committee that will explain how we can handle this new change. Life goes on.
