TROOP 1113 DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
THE PAST: November was a grand month. Kevin Metcalf completed his Eagle project. We had a great campout and hike at Nail’s Creek State Park—a return trip is definitely in order for next year. The Troop pie sales were a financial success. And the month ended with Thanksgiving for everyone.
THE PRESENT: December is the magical month if ever there was one. For our Troop, this means winter camp. Lost Pines Scout Camp in the Texas Hills country—what memories it brings back…campfires, freezing rain, 20 degree nights, merit badges, a great First Class program, and the dining hall aka barracks. The Troop will be at camp from December 20th to December 24th. There are still vacancies, the cost is $130. Other events for December include the Troop garage sale, gift exchange at the December 16th meeting, and tree planting at Boone Road Park. The tree planting is hosts by Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday, December 13th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Bring your shovels and earn some service hours.
THE FUTURE: The new year will be here before we know it and once again, we have a full schedule. January 9-11 is a campout at Enchanted Rock State Park. Those OA Members not camping with our Troop can attend the OA Banquet on Saturday, January 10th. The District Awards Dinner is Friday, January 23rd, all adult leaders are encouraged to attend. We close the month out with the District First Aid Meet on Saturday, January 21st.
SCOUTMASTER’S MINUTE: A quick holiday greeting to all family and friends of Troop 1113. May you have a joyous holiday!!!!
