TROOP 1113 DECEMBER 2006

The past: Once again we have come to year’s end and a time to reflect upon our journey in Scouting. Here is a short list of the events we had.

December: Camp Brosig campout, it was cold and the fire was warm.

November: Camp Edgewood winter camp, Tabasco sauce and grits, let’s go somewhere else next year.

October: 20 K Fun Run and moved our Troop meeting to Sunday evening.

September: Galveston State Park campout, swimming in the ocean and swimming in your tent.

August: Backpacking to Stephen F. Austin State Park and two Eagle projects, hot sun bug spray and blue tarps.

July: Skyrockets, fireworks and model rockets.

June: Horseshoe Bend summer camp,

May: The District Food drive

April: Cooking at the Scout Fair

March: District Camporee at Camp Brosig, Jr. Leader Training at Stephen F. Austin State park.

February: The Rock Gym Lock in, did you repel the 30 ft wall?

January: Campout at Stephen F.Austin State park with the raccoons and an Eagle Scout project.

This is what we did and also what we didn’t do in 2006.

The Present: December is almost over and I hope each of you has had a great holiday. I look forward to 2007 as a great year for scouting for our troop. In closing out the year 2006 remember to pay up your dues and nay other fees you may owe.

The future: Alright here is the big news you all have been waiting for, beginning January 2nd, at 7:30pm Troop 1113 will once again hold our meetings on Tuesday nights.

Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Carr, Mr. Weaver and Mr. Van de Wilt will be in charge of meetings. I will be available for weekend events.

Scoutmaster minute: Scouting is a volunteer organization. This means you do not have to be involved in Boy Scouts. If you choose to be in Scouts then be completely involved in Scouts, wear your uniform correctly, attend meetings and events, and work on your rank advancement, live by the Scout Oath and Law. If you do not want to be in Scouting that’s OK, good luck with your life. I choose to be in Scouting. Hopefully I will see you on the next campout.
