Troop 1113 January Newsletter

The Past:

December brought Scout Fair. We cooked banana, peach, pineapple and fruit cocktail cobblers. Mr. Carr put on a cooking demonstration that wowed everyone that was fortunate to have been there. Everyone left as happy campers. The scouts attended Lost Pines for winter camp. The temperature reached a low of 25’, qualifying our campers for the polar bear patch. Way to go guys!

The Present:

The Order of the Arrow banquet will be held on Saturday the 12th. All OA members are encouraged to attend. The Tatanka District dinner is Friday the 25th. Would love to see everyone there, come support the troop. Due to scheduling conflicts, the Galveston State Park campout has been moved to January 18th thru the 20th. We also have Donut Sunday on the 20th. The district first aid meet will be held on Saturday the 26th.

The Future:

A reminder that Scout Sunday is February 3rd. Great news! We have been accepted to Emerald Bay for summer camp. The dates are June 9th – 15th. We also have Iron Wheel Mesa reserved for June 16th – 22nd. Those that have signed up for Emerald Bay are already on a payment schedule. We will begin a payment schedule for Iron Wheel Mesa in February. There are currently 12 slots reserved, so reserve your spot early. We have many other great events prior to summer camps. The family campout will be at Guadalupe River State Park this year.

SM Minutes:

Well, Scouts, did you make any New Year's resolutions? I hope some of you resolved to bring up your grades in school and be more helpful around the house. I'm sure your parents would be delighted with those resolutions.

In Scouting, we make a resolution almost every time we meet. Each time we repeat the Scout Oath or Law, we're resolving to do our best to do our duty and to make ourselves the best citizens we can be. I'm inclined to think that resolving to follow the Scout Oath and Law are the most important resolutions you can make - now and in the time to come. The Oath and Law cover almost everything that makes a good man and a good citizen.

Yours in Scouting
