Troop 1113 March Newsletter
The Past:
February was quite a busy month. Troop elections were held. Our congratulations to the following; SPL - Alan Nguyen / ASPL – Eric Bao / Chaplin’s Aide – Tim Osborne / Scribe - Louis Do / Librarian - David Nguyen / Historian - Kevin Metcalf / and Quartermaster - Manuel Grajeda. The campout to Galveston Island State Park was picture perfect. We hiked, biked, swam (for those who dared), great campfires and learned about cleaning chuck boxes (you had to be there). The Troop 791 Merit Badge Fair was held Saturday the 23rd. There were two Eagle boards of reviews held; Congratulations to Brian Dinwiddie and Alan Nguyen.
The Present:
There are many opportunities for all in March. Paul Nester has his Eagle project scheduled for Saturday March 2nd. It will be at Bush Park and involve landscaping. Paul is looking forward to seeing everyone there, so see Paul for complete details. The district camporee will be held March 8th thru the 10th at Camp Strake in the JP White area. It should be an excellent time for all. The OA Spring fellowship will be the following weekend (March 15th thru the 17th). Get your money in for this by the 4th to avoid an additional $5 charge. We also have donut Sunday fundraiser on the 17th and so it is a good time to add to your account by participating.
The Future:
April will bring our annual family outing to Guadalupe State Park (sorry no E-Rock this time, but next year for sure). Please sign up early, for there are only so many available camping spaces. We will be assisting the church with their annual bazaar on Sunday April 21st from 11 – 7. May will bring OA Ordeals and camp services as well as an outing to Schlitterbaun. There are still some slots open for summer camp at Iron Wheel Mesa (June 16th thru the 22nd). Sign up now and reserve your spot with a $25 deposit. The payment schedule for Emerald Bay (June 9th thru the 15th) is in progress. I strongly suggest you do not fall behind on those payments. See Bob Osborne for further details.
A Note From The Committee Chairperson:
I have the following training information:
Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters – March 23rd and April 27th **

** Times and locations to be announced as they become available **
SM Minutes:
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that amateurs built the Ark. Skilled people built the Titanic.
Yours in Scouting
