MAY 2005 NEWSLETTER
THE PAST: April is gone and with it, the Spring Camporee, our Troop Garage Sale and the Scout Fair. Each and every event was a success. By success, I mean we had fun, we expressed teamwork, advancements were made, new lessons were learned…in other words, Troop 1113 was busy Scouting!
THE PRESENT: Once again, we have a busy month ahead. May 6th and 7th is the Ordeal weekend for Tatanka District at Camp Brosig. Do not forget Mother’s Day on May 8th! May 15th is donut/pancake Sunday at Notre Dame. Saturday, May 21st, our Troop will participate in the District Food Drive. We will cover the neighborhood around Notre Dame Church. Meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and finish around 12:00 or 1:00. Finally, Saturday, May 28th—the Great Schlitterbahn WaterPark Adventure. Cost for Schlitterbahn is $55.00 which includes Park entrance fee + $10 Splash Cash/snack/lunch + dinner at CC’s Pizza on the way home.
THE FUTURE: June—school is out and vacation is here and so is Summer Camp, June 26th to July 2nd at El Rancho Cima Ironwill Mesa. Be prepared for an exciting week.
SCOUTMASTER MINUTE: The old rhyme goes ‘April showers bring May flowers’. This is why Mother’s Day is in May. I have yet to meet the mother who does not appreciate flowers given by one of her children. Flowers are bright and cheerful, soft and fragrant, all motherly attributes. Also, flowers can be inexpensive ($5 for a nice bouquet.) So, don’t forget your mothers on Sunday, May 8th.
