TROOP 1113 MAY 2007

The past: April and the dreaded TAKS tests have come and gone for another year. The troop has also passed another month of activities. Unfortunately our JLTC campout did not work out for the troop. I have been told it was a great camping trip with inter-troop competition, leadership training, and the weather constantly changing. Tim Bohn’s eagle project was a great success, lots of participation and hard work by all. Service hours will be duly recorded for those who were present. The Scout Fair was also a great success. We cooked 14 cobblers of various flavors. Next year what about a Mango cobbles or maybe Coconut cobbler? Think about it.

The present: May is already well under way as I write this letter. Last November the troop elected four scouts to the Order of the Arrow, Chris and Oliver Lee, Caleb Williams and Pat Steele. These scouts went on their Ordeal May 11th &12th. Congratulations scouts. May 19th is the District food drive. We will go house to house and collect canned foods to donate to the food pantry at Notre Dame Church. Sunday the 20th is our weekend to serve Doughnuts and Coffee to our sponsor Notre Dame Church. We are still trying to arrange a car wash in conjunction with this activity. Look for updates to be announced at troop meeting. Finally on Saturday the 26th the annual trip to Schilitterbahn Water park in New Braumfels. If you don’t have any other plans for that day don’t miss this trip.

The future; With the change in summer camp dates to July 1st to 7th, the month of June has no planned activities. We will hold a Patrol Leaders Council to do the yearly calendar. Be prepared for a last minute Galveston Island event.

Scoutmaster minute: Tuesday the 15th of May will be the anniversary of the death of Juan Median. Troop 1113 ill mark this date with a special meeting.

A Scout is Reverent.
