Troop 1113 November Newsletter
The Past:
October was a busy month. For our OA members, the Fall Pow-Wow was a very exciting event. Everything from scuba diving to bungee fun! The troop’s garage sale went well with great support from all. Mountain Man Fall Camporee was also great fun. The Honking Wolves took 1st place in ‘Ultimate Frisbee’. Manuel Grajeda got 1st place in chess for his age bracket and 3rd overall. Congratulations scouts. Also congratulations to Spencer Meredith and Jonathan Soffar for completing the rank of Eagle Scout. The air is rare where you are. I am very proud to have shared many campfires with you. The 20k run fundraiser was a great way to not only help people, but also raise money for the boys. We give many thanks to Mr. Sellers for allowing us to participate again this year. The troops annual pie sale fundraiser also kicked off the 24th.
The Present:
November will be equally exciting. Pie sale monies will be due the 7th and pies are to be picked up the 11th. No exceptions! They must be picked up when called. Our campout this month will be to Galveston Island State Park on 17th to 19th. There will be a 25-mile bike ride, as well as kite flying and fishing. Donut / pancake Sunday falls on the 19th, So scouts not participating on the campout should make plans to support the church. Those who have signed up for winter camp at Lost Pines, final payment is due the 14th. We still have a few slots open at this time.
The Future:
Scout fair is just around the corner. We have elected to be outside again, with dutch oven cooking. Winter camp to Lost Pines is looking good. The dates are December 20th – 24th. We have many events planned for 2001. For more details check your troop calendar or visit the troop web site @ <

Thanksgiving is almost here, and that means a school holiday, probably some football games to watch, and surely a big meal of turkey with all the trimmings.
It's a great time for everybody. But before the holiday passes, take a few minutes to think about what it really means. Thanksgiving started out to be a time for giving thanks to God for his blessings. We should make sure to keep that thought in our celebration today.
That doesn't mean we have to spend the whole holiday time in prayer. By all means we should enjoy the feast and the football. But we should also remember that a Scout is reverent, and part of that point of the Scout Law is praying and giving thanks at appropriate times. So when you sit down to your big Thanksgiving dinner, don't forget to offer your thanks to God, not only for the food but for all your other blessings.
Yours in Scouting
Bobby Metcalf
