TROOP 1113 October 2007

The past: September 07 found our troop with two full weekends of scouting.

Our troop garage sale was Sat. the 15th. Mrs. Rivera put the event together for us and did a great job too many thanks to her. Sunday the 16th was pancake Sunday at Notre Dame. We sold out of pancakes before the end of third service. All the scouts who worked will have a share of the profit posted in their scout account. The next weekend the troop went to Ft. Travis on Bolivar took part in the world wide adopt a beach clean up. Service hours were earned, along with loot from the Crystal Beach Chamber of Commerce (Frisbees, coozes, beanie babies, and hats). We ended the day with a swim in the Gulf and campfire at night. All in all we had a great weekend.

The present: This month we have two weekend events also. A 10 mile hike is scheduled for Sat. the 20th. We will meet at George Bush Park at 7:00am and should complete the hike around 1:00pm. The next weekend is the 20K fun run. We will put meet Sat. the 27th at 12:00 noon, go downtown and work with the organizers to set up the event. Then on Sunday we will meet at 5:15am, go downtown and assist in event operations. Other items going on this month include Popcorn sales and Pie sales. Both of these will go into your scout account.

The future: November is my favorite month. I love pumpkin pie. We are camping on the 9th 10th and 11th. November is always a great camping weather month, we may go backpacking or have just a regular campout. Either way BE Prepared.

Scoutmaster minute: Who is in charge of advancement in our troop? Do you know? Mrs. Campbell is the advancement chairperson. The Scoutmaster is responsible for the Scoutmaster Conference requirement. Mr. Carr is the scout to tenderfoot assistant scoutmaster. The answer is of course YOU the scout. Scouting is a fun program for all boys. The rank of Eagle Scout is for the very few who take charge and earn it.
