Troop 1113 - September 2004 Newsletter

The Past – summer is over, school is started, and Troop elections have been held. Summer Camp at Sid Richardson was a good week of scouting with merit badges earned, rank requirements completed and good times shared with scouts. We closed out summer with a LAN Party with GoBallistic thanks to Senior Patrol Leader Manuel Grajeda and ans ASM Kevin Metcalf for organizing this event.

The Present – Tuesday, Sept 7th is our fall Court of Honor and pot luck dinner, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, the 19th is our first pancake Sunday of the fall and we finish off the month with a campout to Lake Somerville in search of iron ore to use in our tomahawk project. Don’t forget our brick making afternoon on Saturday, the 11th at 3:00 p.m.

The Future – the troop has planned the calendar for the ‘04-’05 year and we have some busy times ahead. October finds us at the District Fall Camporee, our sponsor Notre Dame Church bizarre, and the 20K run. Also, the OA has its powwow this month.

Scoutmaster Minute – Have you ever noticed how sometimes you need time to yourself? Not that there are problems or conflicts, but just an afternoon to recharge the batteries. Maybe watch clouds, read a book, wade fish along the shoreline or veg-out with a video game for a few hours. We all need time to recharge. I hope each of you got plenty of recharge this summer—that’s what summer vacation is for. We have a great year planned for Troop 1113; I hope you are ready for it, I know I am.
