ROBERT W. SERVICE'S
BALLADS OF A BOHEMIAN

Ballads of a Bohemian was originally published in 1921. While Service can not truly be regarded as a Bohemian author, the Canadaian born poet and author did spend considerable time in Paris, living there from the early 1910s until 1929.

Service studied painting at the Academie Colarossi in Paris and he is quoted as saying that "This Vie de Boheme phase must have lasted a year...." The verses in Ballads of a Bohemian describe his reactions to and participation in the Bohemian activities of the era.
