Day 3, Friday, July 11, 2008 – 387 miles
My day usually starts a bit earlier than Cathy’s. I start with pictures sometimes.

That’s Cathy. Yes, she is still actually asleep under there. Look closely and you can see her hand by the pillow.
After we both got up, we went and had a fine breakfast at Wendy’s – NOT! (Go to McDonalds, it’s better.)
In Wyoming, they take their gun rights seriously.

OK, he was a re-enactor coming back from Gettysburg. They
are still unsure of who won
but they had about 2000 re-enactors with 60 Confederate and 55 Union cannons.
After a little shooting our mouths off, we hit the road
again. About half the day was spent doing 75
and then we took US-191 North from Rock Springs where we drove 65.
We saw a lot of wind*, sage, deer, dust, and antelope. (*-With enough dust you see the wind.)
Half the day was heading across the mesa with a lot of open
range. The signs say “Strong Winds Next 5 Miles”
but since they put them every couple of miles, the wind never stops.
We headed to our cabin we had reserved in Bondurant where we got a big surprise.
The cabin I booked in June was occupied! It seems they
probably made more money renting to a group for
9 days instead of us for one night. It was to be $97 and I booked there because
the KOA didn’t even have
tent sites and hotels started at close to $200 a night. (Even the crummy ones
like Super 8!)
Anyhow, the lady on duty used to work at the Days Inn in
Jackson so short story, I got her to call in a favor.
She got me in at the local versus the tourist rate for $99. Hmmm, cancel my
cabin anytime!
That’s where we are at this writing. I know a Days Inn
picture or another one of Cathy sleeping isn’t exciting
so instead, I offer you some hang gliders off the nearby mountains.

There’s a couple of the five or so that were hanging around…

This is actually farther up than it looks.

See, I told you! Sorry, got the hotel picture anyhow. Home
sweet home
for tonight. Sweet dreams!
