Day 7, Tuesday, July 15, 2008 – 152 miles

After getting up today, Cathy went to the nearby Conoco to get her daily Coke and some
donuts. I had coffee in the room and decided that was good enough for me. We hung
out near the vendor area and chatted with some of our GWTA friends, old and new.

As you can see, they were a bit short of vendors this year. To me, that means we will wait on
an oil change and that front tire will just have to last until Kansas City.

Cathy played Dirty Bingo again and I went to a group riding seminar taught by my friend
Cowboy. (This is the 4th year we’ve known Cowboy and his wife Susan since we camped
with them at the Baraboo, Wisconsin rally.)

Here are Cathy and Eva strategizing at Dirty Bingo while some of our new friends formulate their plans.

I commented to Susan that I have yet to get her and Cowboy in the same picture.
After class, we went on the Harley-Davidson Friendship ride to the Little Bighorn area
where Lt. Col. G. A. Custer had his last stand in 1876. (The Indians won this time.)

The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument honors both the soldiers and the Indians
who fought on this site. You can see why they called it “Big Sky” country as well. This is a
very nice and sobering place to visit and is well worth the admission price.

We jumped on I-90 and shot back to Billings at 75mph. I think I used more gas again than
when we were slower. We went to the Historic Depot area where the city had blocked off
much of Montana Ave. for the GoldWingers and a street fair. We saw the drill team finish
up and grabbed a bite to eat from the “Taste of Billings”. We watched the sport bike riders
perform while we ate and then headed back to the Holiday Inn.

We’ve been getting a little media coverage and Oh yeah; they had quads doing stunts too!

Back at the hotel, I updated the Blog for yesterday and up to here today. Any guesses what
Cathy is doing? I know what you’re thinking, you may be right…

Speaking of media coverage, here are some external links you could look at:

Just don’t forget to come back to this page and finish the story!
(Links work as of this posting. The photos should be available for 3 months.)

We were going to go back to the depot and enjoy the dancing and activities but instead
decided to walk to a nearby restaurant and have dinner. We were able to keep a pretty
good parking spot 50’ from the lobby as well. On the way back, we covered the bike and
trailer for the night.

Now that it’s getting near bedtime, I’m going to call it a day and upload the final changes.

You think this was the nighttime picture? Wrong! I took this mid-afternoon after the
previous Web update. Anyhow, we’re both going to get in a state of repose and call it
a night. See you tomorrow! (Admit it, you guessed this was what she was doing didn’t you!)
