Day 9, Thursday, July 17, 2008 – 38 miles
We’re getting a little slower about getting around. Since I
knew we had an easy day planned, I stayed up until 2:00 AM
watching a movie and slept until 6:30. (I still got up before Cathy.) It was a scary
one and she doesn’t watch those.
We gassed up and headed to the Pictograph Cave State Park. It was really close to Billings so we were there in about 30 min.

The ride to the park was very nice. There are tons of
rabbits and Cathy wanted me to take a bunch of pictures of them.
Instead, I told her to go stand with them and I would not only take her
picture, I would start calling her “Rabbit Whisperer”.

This cave of the three there is called “Ghost Cave” and I thought it looked the neatest. These are drawings of rifles.

The plaque show the pictographs better as the originals have
faded a bit. These rock formations looked like a big log as we
were riding in and we had to do a double take to see that they were actually
rock!

Remember Cowboy and Susan from the other day? They weren’t
home when we came a calling but this is their 2nd place,
prize winning campsite. We socialized with their neighbors for a while and then
moved off down the road. Next stop, the Zoo,
where we snagged this unobscured shot of these two bald eagles.
Back at the rally site, we watched the talent show and then it was time for closing ceremonies.

There were singers with mustaches, harmonica players, singing women, and joke tellers at the talent show.

This young lady had the distinction of being the youngest
co-rider. This also won her the honor of pulling the ticket for the
lucky winner of their choice of a new GoldWing, a new Harley-Davidson, a new
BMW or $10,000 cash. Needless to say it
wasn’t Cathy or I. (Nor did we win the $5000 seven chance draw or the $500
50/50 or the $250 50/50 or anything.)
OK, I flat forgot to have a evening lodging shot for this day’s page. Instead, I offer this sleeping ‘Kitty’:

Goodnight! Big day tomorrow! See you then!
