Where The Heck Is The Game, Anyway?
Our normal schedule, above, is pretty consistent, but is on a week-by-week basis because that's what the Parks Department rules are for practice fields. Every Monday, we send out a newsletter to confirm the schedule for that week. The newsletter usually goes out by noon. Any field and/or schedule variations are communicated in the newsletter.

The best way to keep informed of the game status and location is to subscribe to the Penultimates Newsletter. We will keep your email address private. See recent newsletters.

Fees for registration, lights, etc.
We are collecting $2 per player per night to cover the cost of the field. We are using the honor system; it's up to you to keep track of how much you've played and paid.

Shirts
Please try to bring both a dark and light shirt. If you wear grey you won't get thrown to because we won't be able to tell which team you are on.

Group Culture
The group is open with a wide range of skill levels. We play one point at a time not one game at a time; we finish up the evening with a more-or-less traditional game. We are more oriented towards the exercise, fun, and camaraderie aspects of ultimate than the competitive aspects:

We don't keep score, except during the final game
Dropping the kickoff is not a turnover

Everyone is welcome; everyone gets the disk.

Last Back Etiquitte
From time to time, turnout is huge (sometimes more than 30 players). Here are the "last back" rules which I hope we can all follow:

Last back on defense only
No changing shirts just to get in with a last back (but it is certainly okay to change shirts to even out the teams)
After playing a few consecutive points (either offense or defense), and people want in, please take a break

Please note that not everyone who plays with us has read this page. And, a little peer pressure goes a long way.

Rain

Yes, there are sometimes afternoon thunderstorms in Houston. These generally do not affect our game because the storms are usually over by the time we play and the field drains pretty well. We will play unless it is actually raining at the park at game time.

Four Marks
For some reason, the Penultimates attracts Mark's like flies ... I've lost count. See "Four Marks" which was applicable when we had only four.

Saturday Night Specials
Some of us used to play ultimate at the University of Houston most Saturday nights. But the game died out. Bleah.
